With much anticipation, we are pleased and excited to announce the hire of our new CEO, Ryan Caswell, who will take the position of current CEO, Greg Shyba, as he retires. Ryan brings over a decade of experience in the education and non-profit sectors to his new role as CEO of the Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area.

Most recently, Ryan served as Director of Resource Development with Providence Child Development Society, where he excelled in leading fundraising campaigns and enhancing community engagement.

His career also includes significant roles at the University of Calgary (Faculty of Law), SAIT, and Calgary French & International School. Ryan’s volunteer work includes serving on the Board of Directors for Robinson Outreach at RiverCross Ranch (ROARR).

Ryan is currently completing his graduate diploma in Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability from the University of Toronto and plans to pursue his Master’s degree in the near future. His dedication to community service and sustainability aligns seamlessly with ASCCA’s mission.

In his personal life, Ryan enjoys golfing, hockey, and spending time outdoors with his wife Ashleigh, their son, Carter, and their dog, Remi. He is enthusiastic about honouring the legacy of the Cross family and is grateful for the strong foundation established by outgoing CEO Greg Shyba.

Ryan looks forward to advancing the ASCCA’s conservation efforts and educational programs, contributing to its ongoing success. He is enthusiastic for the opportunity to connect with volunteers and partners at an event later this fall.

Ryan will be starting in his new role on September 3, 2024.
